Every year, our Municipal Agriculture Office thru its mango research project conducts a Mango Harvest Festival participated by the members of the Gumaca Mango Growers Association. Yesterday, June 6, they held one in Brgy. Hagakhakin. Today, the harvesting was done in Brgy. Progreso. In the next few days, more harvests in both barangays are scheduled to be completed and so expect more mangoes to be sold in our market and at the LGU’s Negosyo Center.
As in the previous years, the mango growers employ the technology shared and taught by our agriculture extension workers Maria & Elsie. The produce are just as delectable and sweet or even better than those found in Guimaras and Zambales. And by the way, they were also taught how to make mango puree, juice and jam to expand their market.
Who knows, soon, Gumaca can also become a mango capital in Quezon and in the entire Philippines! To our mango growers and farmers, may you continue to utilize the new techniques given to you by our researchers.
