Today, April 19, 2017, Mayor Erwin Caralian is attending DSWD’s KC-NDDP Quarterly LGU Conference and Mayor’s Forum . Several Municipal Mayors from the different municipalities of Quezon are made to report accomplishments of previous Kalahi projects and their plans for this year implementation of Kalahi projects with Gumaca a recipient of the Tier-2 project implementation.
This Kalahi projects are indeed a big help to our barangays because these entail additional fund support to accomplish their priority projects like water systems, concreting of farm-to-market-roads, construction of health centers, community centers, artificial reefs, spillway among others. More importantly, the communities are empowered because it is in their respective barangays that planning, procurement, implementation, monitoring and maintenance originate and participated by barangay volunteers.
Kalahi CIDSS is a poverty alleviation program of our national government particularly the Department of Social Welfare and Development. Expectedly, DSWD ARDO Annie Mendoza with DRPM Loida Abela are the lead convenors of the gathering where our PSWDO Sonia Leyson and DILG’s Myrna Rocafor and Noemi Pelaez are also present.
This morning, April 19, 2017, just before Mayor Erwin Caralian proceeded to the Mayor's Forum 2017 for Kalahi-CIDSS Project, a visit was made to Maybank in Bonifacio Global Center to follow-up on our LGU’s offer to buy a property situated in Purok Standard, Brgy. Rosario. This lot, now owned by Maybank, is planned to be distributed to those who are already residing in the said property which they can repay to the LGU at a lesser cost and longer term.
The result of the visit cum meeting ended with positive results as the documents needed for the purchase of said lot has now started between LGU Gumaca and Maybank. God-willing, those residents in the area can now have a lot they can call their own.
This is an effort made to boost LGU Gumaca’s socialized housing program and resettlement of informal settlers in our beloved town.
February is Feb-ibig month with today - the 14th as Valentine’s Day. In Gumaca, Mayor Erwin Caralian has made it a tradition to hold the Kasalang Bayan not only to celebrate the love month but more importantly to solemnize the wedding hassle-free of couples who want to tie the knots and especially of those who have been living together without the sanctity of marriage. All they have to do is just submit their applications and make themselves available on the wedding date, nothing more, nothing less!
Through the collaboration of the Mayor’s Office and the Civil Registrar’s Office, preparations began as early as January from the gathering of CENOMAR to the minutest details of the reception – the venue, the wedding cake, the red wine, the doves, the foods and the ceremony itself ensuring that the day will become a memory to last a lifetime. Wedding hosts and singers are likewise taken cared of to make it a complete wedding package.
And so this year, 42 pairs of them, take their vows as husbands and wives in the presence of our Mayor and their sponsors and promise to each other in the name of our dear Lord God to love another for all eternity. Yes, today starts their journey to forever! In his message, Mayor Erwin emphasized the importance of faith by which every marriage should be anchored and that every household must have a Bible with the heads of every family sharing the beautiful words written in it and allot Sundays as worship days.
Last April 18, 2017, our indefatigable Mayor Erwin Caralian went to the Department of Transportation for a meeting with its Director - Eduardo J. Mangalili. This is regarding the Construction of Causeway Head and Additional Pier at Villabota Port. With the improvement of the existing port, more sea vessels transporting goods and people can be accommodated. Also present in the meeting is DOTr Area Project Engineer Juan Apolinar.
This is yet another project of Mayor Caralian partnering with national government agencies to ensure seamless delivery of basic services this time for our sea travelers and traders.
